Mahakumbh 2025 | Confluence of religion, humanity and harmony

More than 60 crore (600 million) people have taken a holy dip in the Sangam in the Mahakumbh Mela organized in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India in the year 2025. Such a huge number has recognized this fair as the largest fair ever organized in the world, which is also a world record. People from various countries around the world have participated in this event here.

“The Kumbh Mela, scheduled to be held in Prayagraj, India between 13 January 2025 and 26 February 2025, is the ‘Mahakumbh‘, a festival repeated every 144 years based on the positions of the planets (i.e. Jupiter, Sun and Moon).”

Whether it is an 8-year-old child or an 80-year-old elder, everyone knows that they will not get the opportunity of Maha Kumbh again in this life. Because the age of this body is not 144 years. That is why people from every corner of the country and the world are coming here to take advantage of this opportunity. Nobody wants to lose this wonderful time.

Sadhus, saints, Naga Akharas, common people, men, women, children, old people, all kinds of people are coming to participate in this event. People of all castes and religions have seen and felt this. People of different castes are bathing together at the ghats and eating together. Coming here, it becomes clear that there is no caste discrimination of any kind in the organized Hindu society.

Arrangements during Mahakumbh Mela 2025

We must see and understand how the organizers are arranging food, drink, and accommodation for the approximately one crore people who come every day. Various religious, social, governmental and non-governmental organizations across the country organize it. Everyone is contributing to this event in their own way. Millions of people are working selflessly for the success of this fair, so that the devotees coming here do not face any kind of problem.

There is a huge crowd all around, wherever you look, only human heads are visible. If you look from a distance, you cannot see the land, you can only see people. Many people are coming here in groups, while some are coming alone. There is no such street, mohalla, village or city in India from where people have not come to participate in this Maha Kumbh. Every person has someone who is taking a dip and telling them about the arrangements for this event.

Government Support

The Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh have taken special steps to facilitate this event and give it grandeur. Both the governments have worked together for this. The Uttar Pradesh administration is working 24 hours for the success of this event. This includes uninterrupted supply of electricity, provision of clean water, cleaning of the city and Ganga Sangam Ghats, maintaining peace and order, controlling traffic, etc. Having such arrangements even after so many people coming here is of great importance in itself.

To summarise, two types of people are coming here-

  1. First, those who have come here in the spirit of pilgrimage. The devotees who have come on pilgrimage are happy with the arrangements.
  2. The second type of people have come here considering it a fair. The people who have come to participate in the fair are finding lack in arrangements.

Thus, the Mahakumbh 2025 is not only a fair held at the confluence of three rivers but is also a confluence of religion, humanity and harmony. Seeing this, it seems as if Hinduism is not waking up, but running away.

Historical Facts related to Mahakumbh

No one has concrete evidence of when the Kumbh Mela is being organized and who started it. But if we talk about modern and recorded history, then the Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang has mentioned it in his travelogue related to his stay in India. He wrote that Emperor Harshavardhan organized the Kumbh Mela even in the sixth century. This tradition continues even today, perhaps even more widely than before.

However, according to Hindu religious belief, Amrit Kalash was obtained from the churning of the ocean during the Satya Yuga. During the war between the gods and demons over the distribution of this nectar, a few drops of nectar fell at four places. Which led to the beginning of this fair. Since then, every 12 years, the Kumbh Mela is organised at these four places (Haridwar, Nashik, Prayagraj and Ujjain).
